While basketball is largely a team game that allows gifted individual players to stand out, the ability to shoot is one of those skills that can set a player a part. Just ask Stephen Curry! He isn't the biggest, quickest or most talented player, but because he works hard and can knock down jump shots consistently, he is considered one of the best players in the NBA today![/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]So, it is important to understand how to improve your shot in the development of your personal game. And, the ability to shoot before the defender is in good defensive position is one of those skills that can be greatly improved with diligence and good practice drills. However, the process of learning to shoot the basketball quicker during the flow of the game is different for each basketball position, whether it is at guard, forward, or center. This post should be helpful for any player not matter what position you play. Each position has opportunities throughout the game to shoot the basketball with control a lot quicker. This keeps the defense off balance. Most teams normally use two guards, but a three-guard lineup is not uncommon. The point guard begins the offense and distributes the basketball primarily. However, point guards still shoot frequently and need to be able to shoot quickly in many instances. The first component of improving your…

The purpose of this basketball shooting drill is to give players the opportunity to be consistent with their shooting. In addition to this drill, a good friend of mine by the name of Augie Johnston created a scoring academy to help you not only become a better shooter, but a better all around scorer. For young players, I would shoot 2s and not 3s. For older players, I would challenge you to time yourself shooting 2s and do the same for 3 pointers. The Wake Forest record is 40 seconds, can you beat that? I know you want to beat the Wake Forest record, but don't sacrifice your fundamentals to shoot the basketball quicker. Do You Want a Shooting Workout that will HELP you Become a GREAT Shooter? Yes! I Do Learn how to shoot quicker by viewing the Dip Rhythm Video. Here is a recap of the 3 week series, Dino Gaudio's Drill Series #1 was "25 in Two" Three Point Shooting Drill. Drill Series #2 was "Sideline Lateral Slides" - Layup Drill and Drill Series #4 was a Three Point Shooting Game. Enjoy! [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] The Rules and Basics of Basketball Written By Lamar Hull @ Google+ [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]When basketball was officially invented by James Naismith in 1896, there were only thirteen rules and one of those rules was that the player with the ball was not allowed to run with the ball. Imagine that? Obviously the game has changed quite a bit in the last hundred years and basketball today is a completely different sport. Just think about the number of basketball rules that have expanded exponentially. In fact, the game has become complicated enough to where there are still numerous debates amongst basketball fanatics about how certain rules should be interpreted. This guide is meant to help those unfamiliar, and some of those who are familiar, understand the game of basketball better.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="7/12"][vc_column_text] The Absolute Basics The absolute fundamentals to the game of basketball is five players per team on the court, one ball, two hoops at exactly ten feet above the ground on posts, standardized backboards, and a shot clock that forces teams to take a shot or turn the ball over to the other team in a short period of time. A shot from inside the three-point line is worth two points and three points from outside that same line. Every free throw is worth one point. Aside from these universal precepts, the rules of basketball change slightly through the different levels of competition, namely NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association), FIBA (International Basketball Federation), and the NBA (National Basketball Association). Detailed below are the fundamentals of basketball and their variations throughout the four main levels of competition.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width="5/12"][vc_empty_space height="72px"][vc_raw_js]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[/vc_raw_js][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height="30px"][vc_single_image image="9519" img_size="630x380" alignment="center"][vc_empty_space height="20px"][vc_column_text] 1. [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] 3 Point Basketball Shooting Game [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] If you have been following the former Wake Forest Head Coach, Dino Gaudio's Drill Series for the past 2 weeks, you have noticed that the drills are challenging and they should be. These drills are also fun and involve some conditioning. If you teach these drills to your young players, make sure you teach the fundamentals. That is most important! Dino Gaudio's Drill Series #1 was "25 in Two" Three Point Shooting Drill. Drill Series #2 was "Sideline Lateral Slides" - Layup Drill. The three point shooting game has 2 players competing against each other. I wouldn't have more than 3 players participating in this basketball shooting game. The coach should encourage each player to focus and compete, so they can make each other better.
